FAQ

What if my child has never run before?

Fantastic! Our programs are designed to be inclusive so anyone and everyone, regardless of prior experience or current skill level can join and improve. Each coach will tailor the workout of the day to accommodate all ranges of kids.

What is the difference between Cross Country and Track & Field?

Cross Country is all about long distance running, building endurance, and racing on trail-like courses. At the high school level, athletes will be race a 5K. At the elementary and middle school levels, however, we challenge our teams to complete between a 1K and 3K depending on age and skill level. Track and Field includes not just running but also field events like jumps and throws. Our program hones in on eight of those events: sprints, relays, middle distance, hurdles, long jump, shot put, javelin (TurboJav), and discus. Check out our PROGRAMS page to learn more!

What should my child wear/bring to practice?

Always have your child come prepared with a water bottle, a snack for after, and good training shoes. If they are participating in an after school program with us, we encourage bringing a change of clothes. While we have had plenty of kids come out and run in jeans over the years, we don’t recommend it! Keep weather in mind as well when gearing up - we always encourage layers in the cold as it is easer to take something off than not have anything to add on.

Will practice be cancelled if the weather is bad?

The answer is - it depends. In short, if a Cross Country or Track meet wouldn’t be cancelled because of it, neither will our practices. Things like rain and wind we expect and can handle, just plan to outfit your child accordingly. Lightning and tornadoes are another story! Our coaches are the ones with boots on the ground and we trust them to make the right call for our teams. If we need to cancel, an hour prior to practice you will receive a text letting you know. Same goes for last minute cancellations mid-practice if the weather turned abruptly. Each practice location has a contingency plan area for adverse weather (ex: under cover area, building access, etc).

Why are you playing games during practice?

First and foremost, because our programs are focused on a positive association with running and track and field, not competition, so the more fun the better! Secondly, because games are a phenomenal way to incorporate multi planar movement meaning side to side, up and down, and angular movements (something that is not common in running or track and field training). This way, games are a sneaky trick we use to strengthen all parts of our athletes as a whole, as well as help prevent injuries over time.

How much does a season or camp cost?

Program and camp pricing is dependent on season length and number of practices per week. See our REGISTRATION page for current offerings in your area!
